Pick-Ups: We picked up "The Century: Questions" video sheet when we walked into the door.
Class activities: Mr. Babbitt instructed us over the weekend to get 10 of our vocabulary words completed. In class today, he instructed us to get 5 more done so that we would have time throughout the week to study, instead of stress. We then watched a video called, "The Century" and completed questions on it. Mr. Babbit then discussed our next unit and how it will be on imperialism.
Homework: Complete 5 more vocabulary words.
Reminder: There will be a vocabulary quiz on Thursday.

    Notebook setup and geography review.
Our vocabulary words for Vocabulary Quiz #5 on American Imperialism appear in chapter 10 of the textbook (begins on page 342).
No assignments were collected but you should have completed 15/17 vocabulary terms for the vocabulary notebook.
Pick-Ups: we picked up two white papers. One paper showed a map of the Caribbean and a map of the Pacific Rim. The other paper listed the terms and dates to be placed on the map (Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, Philippines, Guam, Wake Island, Midway Islands, Hawaii, Palmyra, Samoa, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Panama, and the Panama Canal). We also picked up our unit notebooks.
Class Activities: In class we set up our unit notebooks for Unit 7 "Imperialism - The United States on a World Stage 1880-1921". Page one should have your notebook grade and reflection, page three should have the "The Century - Questions Sheet" from Monday taped on so you can see both the questions and the answers, and page five should have the map pick-up from class today with the Caribbean and Pacific Rim maps labeled with the terms above. In class we labeled the maps.
Homework: Complete all seventeen vocabulary terms for your vocabulary notebook (Ch. 10, pg. 342).
    Important Dates: Vocabulary Quiz #5 - Thursday, 2/18, Unit 7 Test - 3/1.

Pick-Ups: When we came in we were instructed to take out our notebooks and pick up a sheet that was the "White Man's Burden" poem that we soon after cut in half for Mr. Babbit.
Class activities: Mr. Babbit told us the definition of expansionism before we started anything else. Then we took notes on American Imperialism. We then analyzed the "White Man's Burden" poem first by ourselves and then as a class and answered questions about it. After that, Mr. Babbit told us to study for 5 minutes our vocabulary words.
Homework: Study all vocabulary words for the quiz tomorrow.
Reminders: Our vocabulary will be on Thursday, 2/18, and our Unit Test will be on 3/1.

Great post! In addition to the poem, we also took notes on the history of Alaska and Hawaii in relation to the Unites States. This was on the same page as the poem, page 4.

Pick-Ups: No initial pick-ups, but after you completed the quiz, you were to pick up the white paper labeled "History Frame Spanish-American War".
Class Activities: In class today we were given five minutes to study for "Vocab Quiz #5 American Imperialism Part A" before we turned in our completed vocabulary notebooks and took the vocabulary quiz. After completing the quiz using the clickers, we were to pick up a white paper labeled "History Frame Spanish-American War" and begin filling it out using the textbook.
